History of Lower Palisade Ranch

DEEP TEXAS HISTORY

The Lower Palisade Ranch is rich in history and is located on the edge of the Edwards Plateau in both Bexar and Medina County, Texas. Founded in 1833 by a well known Irish immigrant Peter Gallagher, the ranch has been a part of Texas history and has seen it’s share of famous visitors.

ABOUT THE RANCH

The Lower Palisade “Walking A” Ranch is a seven hundred (700) acre secured facility located on the west side of San Antonio, Texas near Helotes. We are bounded on two sides by the Government Canyon State Natural Area, an eleven thousand (11,000) acre state park located in both Bexar and Medina counties. We specialize in the breeding and raising of American Paint and Quarter Horses, Corriente cattle and Trophy Whitetail deer.
